Sundays

Every Sunday is different - really different. First Sundays we usually have communion together and last Sunday was no different. In the afternoon we have Sunday School and this particular Sunday, Eriks (see picture) received Jesus as his savior. After the service Kaspars, our pastor, asked if I would like to go to Balvi to visit one of our members who is in the hospital. I said sure. I didn't realize, however, that meant we would first go to the Balvi Baptist church worship service at 4:00. It is a very small church and most everything is in Russian.
When the service was over, the pastor and his wife went with us to the hospital. This picture shows us with plastic "footies" now required by the hospital for any visitors. Not sure why - but we needed them before we could go into the room to see Melanija. She (and the 4 other ladies in her room) was very happy to see us. We sang songs, prayed and had a good time of visiting. I introduced myself to each of the ladies before we left and told them I would be praying.
Today our service included only Latvian speaking folks - except me. All other foreigners were away! So I ddn't have anything translated - just tried to see if I could get what was going on. At least I found the right scripture passage we were reading.

Here is a picture from our friendship gathering after the serivice. My roommate, Liga (on the left), her twin sister, Aija, and their mother, Olga. Ogla recently became a believer!

Grandmas' Day at Kindergarten!

Last month I got to be "grandma" at the kindergarten for the grandmother's day celebration. Thought I would share some of the pictures I took.

The children sang special songs and danced. Then the grandmas were "invited" to dance, too!! It was a lot of fun.
