Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving Dinner this year was quite fun. The food was good - pork and lamb roasts, mashed potatoes and gravy, cooked cabbage, 4 different salads, cransberry sauce and for dessert, three kinds of pies - pumpkin, apple, and peach. A very happy time was had by all 26 of us. Only three were from the US, the others from England, Sweden, and Latvia. We sat at two large tables with name places to give a good variety of people at each table and so that the families could each sit together.

After dinner each table was given a bag with 12 items that the whole group had to use to plan a skit about the first Thanksgiving in America. Everyone at the table needed to be included in the skit. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time and American history will never be the same - especially because one table's narrator was a Brit!!

Other parts of the evening included telling what we were thankful for this past year. One young man told about how he became a Christian this year. Each of us put our list of thankfulness on a paper hand and then attached it to a "tree" that we could put on the wall. Later we sang songs of praise and prayed.
